Daus, you should add this to your wedding registry... they profiled this unit on History Channel's "Modern Marvels" - it'll give you a digital rip of all of your vinyl, keeping about 99.9% of it's authenticity for an audio nut like yourself.

No, seriously, for 90% of people out there that had records back in the day, they probably have the CD equivalent out there. Buy or "download" the replacement.
Now, if you were a collector of records and can't find the recordings, you probably are so anti-CD/MP3 that you would never dream of digitizing the records.
OK, for the rest of the group...that Ion turntable is trash. Sorry Dan!:) The tonearm is flimsy, the thing is light and the needle is crap. There is a reason high end vinyl rigs start had $700 and can go up to $30k for those crazy people out there.
If I were to put together a good budget rig for the transfer and just general listening, you can get an outstanding rig with a Technics SL1200 (yeah, the DJ table!! Its great!) an Ortofon MM catridge, and believe it or not, the Griffin USB imic for recording. I use the Griffin imic and the recordings sound fantastic.
Dude, it was on Modern Marvels!!! Oh well - I still remember testing you and introducing you to mp3s. I played the Top Gun soundtrack CD ("Danger Zone") and then played the mp3, and asked you which one was which. We were in my apartment in Heather Glen near UCF, way back around 1997. You guessed wrong, by the way! Ha! You liked the sound quality of the 128kbs mp3 file better than the CD... LOL!
